Cheerleading-Football

The squad is a group of hardworking and talented student athletes who represent the school and community through hard work, dedication, and commitment. The team travels to all away football games, decorates the school and field for all home games, pep rallys and school related functions. The cheerleaders are the tour guides for Back to School Night, 8th grade orientation and the 9th grade Barbeque. Tryouts are held each June for the following school year.

Debate

"Your Nearly Famous Becton Debate Team..." competes in the 16 school Bergen County Debate League.  The season runs from September 1  st  to June 1  st..     Meetings and practices are held before and after school.  Becton Debate also participates in the  Yale Model Congress  (Fall) and the  University of Pennsylvania Model Congress  (Spring).  All Becton students are welcome to join us for our 30th Anniversary Season.

Environmental Club

Girls Helping Girls

Mrs. Maka

Girls Helping Girls is a club whose goal is to empower women through the use of educational opportunities. This club focuses on helping others in need by fundraising, collecting donations and visiting various sites that may need assistance. Throughout the year, the club also hosts numerous speakers to help educate members on specific topics such as breast cancer awareness, domestic violence and media literacy.

Horticulture Club

The Horticulture Club will provide students with opportunities to enjoy and learn about horticulture and attend trips to gardens, parks and horticulture conventions.

Images Magazine Club "Images"

"Images", Becton's Art and Literary Magazine, showcases the artistic and literary talents of students who wish to contribute.  The "Images" magazine is published annually and staff positions are flexible and open to all students.

If you are interested in community service than the Key Club is for you.  Community projects include Trick or Treat for  Unicef , Food Drives, and raising funds for various charities.

Math League

Participants compete six times a year after school from October through March.  Open to students in Advanced Math and Calculus.

Becton Music Club

Becton Music Club provides an opportunity for students to share their passion for music through writing, performing, and collaborating during the club meeting times.  Students will be able to learn from each other by sharing their abilities, insights, and opinions pertaining to all styles of music.

Multicultural Club

Multicultural Club is a club that promotes awareness, acceptance, and appreciation of diverse cultures. It will help students to meet new friends and have fun. 

National Honor Society

Paw Club (Protecting Animals Within)

Our main goal is to give back to the animals of our community, and beyond. As a non-profit club, we rely heavily on donations and volunteering, in order to raise awareness about the protection of animals. Whether it be donating to shelters, cleaning up the environment, or visiting local farms, we are dedicated to making a difference amongst our animal community. Peer Leadership

We are a student- driven organization that empowers and inspires peers/students to make positive choices in their lives and community.  We strive to provide opportunities for other students to become leaders and build upon their leadership skills.  We aim to spread the word about taking action in your community to become a leader.  We hope to developing positive attitudes and provide opportunities for students to learn the role of a leader.  Click here to visit our website.

Political Science Club

The Political Science Club will educate students about the rights we have as American citizens. Students will get a better understanding of the United States Constitution and the basics of government and politics. The club will promote voting as this is an important part of being an American citizen. We will also discuss current issues and learn about international governments and the diplomatic relations we have with other countries. This club will be intriguing and helpful for students interested in majoring in political science.

Robotics Club

The Robotics Team is into their second year of the First Tech National Competition.  The Robotics Team has continued to grow in their ability to compete in Robotic’s competition by utilizing their design team, content area marketing team, and business finance team.  This year our team will continue to compete in the National Robotics Program.

Science Olympiad

 

Science Olympiad is a high school/middle school team competition in which students compete in “events” pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including biology, earth science, forensic science, chemistry, physics and engineering.  Our students work cooperatively in groups to prepare to compete in the event of their choice and would represent Becton High School in the competitions.  There are 3 levels of competition:  regional, state, and national.

The Student Council is a representative body of students elected by students.  The major function is to act as the voice of the students, hold social and cultural activities, raise funds for all school activities, and be of service to the community.
